Overdue invoice reminders
Remind customers about overdue invoices with a friendly WhatsApp message and an instant way to pay.
Overview
Chasing overdue invoices is one of the most time-consuming jobs in credit control, and letters and emails are easy to ignore. The overdue invoice reminder sends the customer a friendly WhatsApp message stating the invoice number and the amount outstanding, with an instant way to settle it.
Because your accounts package triggers the reminder, chasing happens consistently and on time — not just when someone gets around to it.
Early access
Automated WhatsApp messaging is launching as an early access programme — see Automated WhatsApp Messaging for how it works and how to register your interest.
What the customer receives
When your system reports that an invoice is overdue, the customer's opted-in contacts receive a WhatsApp message like this:

The message includes:
- The invoice number, so the customer knows exactly which invoice it covers
- The invoice value outstanding
- A Pay now button that opens a customised Open Banking payment, pre-filled with the exact invoice value
- A Call us button for customers who would like to talk it through
How it works
- Your accounts package, ERP, or CRM triggers the overdue invoice event through the ProConnect API, passing the invoice number, the customer reference, and the amount outstanding.
- ProConnect matches the customer reference to the customer and sends the pre-approved reminder template to their opted-in contacts.
- The customer taps Pay now and settles the invoice through their own banking app, with the exact value already filled in.
- If they want to query the invoice or discuss payment, the Call us button connects them to your team.
Your system decides when reminders are triggered — for example the day an invoice falls overdue, or after 7, 14, or 30 days — so the cadence matches your existing credit control process.
Benefits
- Reduce debtor days. The gap between the reminder and the payment shrinks to a few taps.
- Automate the routine chasing. Your credit control team can focus on the accounts that genuinely need a conversation.
- Friendly and low-pressure. A polite WhatsApp reminder lands very differently to a debt-chasing letter, and keeps the customer relationship intact.
- No ambiguity. The invoice number and value are stated clearly, so the customer knows exactly what is due.
